Inspired by the original 1992 Mortal Kombat game with elements and characters from Mortal Kombat II, the film follows Lui Kang, Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade on a journey to save Earth vs. the Outworld.
Led by Lord Raiden (Christopher Lambert), the god of thunder, the group participates in a tournament to combat the forces of the Outworld, known as Mortal Kombat. If the realm of Outworld wins Mortal Kombat ten consecutive times, its Emperor Shao Kahn will be able to invade and conquer the Earthrealm.
The movie is a great adaptation of the game, including talented actors and a decent plot. Seeing the real-life versions of some of my favorite game characters like Scorpion, Subzero and Raiden was an amazing experience and worth the watch.
Personally, I thought Johnny Cage (Linden Ashby) stole the show with his laidback, cocky persona. “Those were $500 sunglasses”
Finish him!
